Associate Pastor Youth, Fairpoint, NY

Purpose: To help Perinton Presbyterian Church more fully accomplish its purpose: Connecting Through Jesus Christ…Sharing His Love…Become Faithful Disciples and to support and help build the church’s program and mission by encouraging the members of the church to become more faithful and earnest disciples and servants of our Lord.

Responsibilities: The Associate Pastor will primarily focus on the first two ministry areas listed below, sharing responsibility in the other areas with the Senior Pastor in a mutually agreeable manner. Additionally, the Associate Pastor will assist the Senior Pastor and church leaders in other ministries as needed. Within each area of responsibility, the Associate Pastor is expected to:

Youth Ministry
-Oversee the development and administration of youth activities and ministries (grades 7-12) within the church and community, including coordination of the youth advisory team, program development, recruitment, and training of leaders/sponsors.
-Coordinate youth-oriented worship services and as needed, other activities, programs, events, and mission projects. Provide guidance and pastoral care to the youth.
-Maintain regular communication with youth and their families regarding upcoming activities and events.

Christian Education
-Attend Christian Education Committee meetings and offer support, encouragement, guidance, and resources to the committee, teachers, and church educational programs.
-Administer and further develop existing Christian Education programs for children, youth, and adults, and develop additional ministries as needed. Special attention shall be given to college-age students and young adults.
-Act as the primary coordinator of the Confirmation Class.
-Assist with the preparation and teaching of Bible studies and adult or youth classes as needed.

Church Life
-Attend Church Life Committee meetings and provide support, encouragement, guidance, and resources to the committee and its programs.
-Develop and administer a small group ministry.

Missions
-Attend Mission Committee meetings and offer support, encouragement, guidance, and resources to the committee and its programs.
-Advocate for and promote greater participation from church members in mission projects, such as adult and youth mission trips.

Pastoral Care
-Share attendance at Deacons meetings with the Pastor, providing support, encouragement, guidance, and resources to the Deacons in their ministry of care.
-Pray with and for the church, visit the sick, troubled, and grieving, provide counseling and care, and make referrals for additional care as appropriate, in coordination with the Pastor.
-Officiate at weddings and funerals, providing appropriate pastoral care and counseling, in coordination with the Pastor.

Worship
-Share leadership of weekly worship services, special worship services during the Christmas and Easter seasons, and other special worship services as needed, with the Pastor.
-Co-officiate the administration of the sacraments.
-Prepare and preach sermons approximately once or twice a month, with flexibility as needed or desired.

Church Leadership and Administration
-Attend Session meetings and act as moderator in the Pastor’s absence.
-Stay informed about major initiatives and activities of the church, offering support or assistance as needed.
-Maintain a presence in the church office, being informed about all office functions, procedures, and equipment, and coordinate office activities in the absence of the Pastor.

Community Service
-Participate in local ecumenical and clergy colleague groups, as appropriate and as time allows.

Denomination Service
-Maintain good standing in the Presbytery of Genesee Valley, participating in the activities of Presbytery, Synod, and General Assembly as invited and as time allows, in accordance with the Book of Order.
-Support the national and worldwide mission of the church.
